The best movie I’ve seen in a long time. More suspense than traditional horror, which was good. Emotionally and mentally exhausting but in a fun way. The only complaint I might have is that toward the end the movie hits a point where the family has overcome obstacle after obstacle and the continual “one more thing” gets to be a little much.

One of the better movies I’ve watched recently. I felt like I was holding my breath for 34 of the movie (which is a good thing considering it’s a thriller). The casting was great (despite there only being less than a dozen actors in total), kudos to the kids/child actors.

The movie fell short 12 a star due to a couple scenes which I felt were out of place (loud monster near a baby which wasn’t making any noise, badass mum moment at the end of the movie). All in all, a great movie and worth a watch (even if you don’t have movie pass!).

Thoroughly recommend this movie, with the title being take quiet literal, there seems to be a small amount of audio for a feature length movie but this really adds to the tension. It’s great that this movie jumps in the deep end right away and sets the tone for where you stay throughout. Although not sure why so many horror movie need to be set in a cornfield and reminds me of Signs it definitely works. I’m still trying to separate John Krasinski’s from goofy Jim Halpert even after so many years but this was a goods start and Emily blunt was as great as ever.

I’m not a big fan of horror films, but the preview for this seemed just so good. Was pleasantly surprised to find that this was more of a thriller than a horror film. Won’t be missing any sleep tonight!

A lot reviews online talk about how quiet the film is. The whole “you can hear people eating popcorn” bit isn’t an exaggeration. Unfortunately, our theater happened to have some hecklers, which made the film a bit less enjoyable. You know that friend who won’t shut their mouth? Don’t bring them with you to this movie.

The movie itself was phenomenal. It doesn’t try to explain the unexplainable, leaving you with only a few newspaper clippings as backstory on how these alien monsters arrived and created this post-apocalyptic scenario. The use of silence to contrast the peaceful scenes from the scary / violent scenes worked wonders. I spent half the movie with my hands covering my open mouth in anticipation of what was to come. Even though the first half was a lot slower than the second half, you find out in the first 10 minutes that that they are not fuckin’ around. Anything goes in this film, and you won’t know until the end who survives, and who doesn’t.

Who knew Jim Harper can direct such a great movie? The plot of The Quiet Place is a very unique and innovate concept that I haven’t seen been done in the horror genre before. I was tense and my goosebumps were rising nearly throughout the entirety of the movie. This is the best horror film I’ve seen so far, this year.

Most everything that ‘A Quiet Place’ intended to do was well performed and well conceived. The quiet moments are suspenseful and make any noise terrifying. I repeatedly covered my mouth to keep from gasping because the atmosphere was so quiet and tense. Acting was also on point. Such good child actors and relationships felt so real and natural.

The only downside was that I didn’t feel anything exceptional or unique from the plot (the use of sounds was unique and amazing though). It was pretty standard post-apocalyptic movie with monsters. Also, a word of advice: beware of crowded, noisy theatres. They take you out of the experience and can be exceptionally frustrating with this movie.

The movie was decent. The second half is a good payoff for making it through the slow first half. Not scary, but more of a tense thriller.

Thought the movie was good — more so original. The director does a good job in setting the atmosphere throughout the movie. Thought it was a creative way of presenting a post apocalyptic world.

There was a lot more tension in the second half of the film, which got the movie going, but it felt like it was scene after scene – building tension and then ending it with some sort of resolution. Overall, would recommend to others, but wouldn’t watch a second time.
